We Bought a High Chair!

So we finally bought a high chair, and it is way easier to feed Charlie now. Before we were feeding him is his bouncer because he was reclined and could eat easier than in anything that sat him up all the way. The high chair we found also reclines a little, so its pretty much awesome.

In this video Charlie is eating carrots and some kind of fruit mixed with his cereal. Steve and I think its super funny. In part of it Charlie grabs that spoon and won't let go, and you can tell that he's really proud of himself. I like it.

Other awesome Charlie things... He will hold out his hands to Steve whenever he sees him. Yeah, he always wants Steve. He has yet to hold out his hands to me. Also, I think he may have cut his first tooth, but I'm not sure. If he did then it is definitely the wrong tooth. He has started crying when we put him down for the night. He just looks up at us with a "Please don't leave me!" face, and when we start walking away he cries. It is so heartbreaking, but he needs to go to sleep, so we leave him. He usually doesn't cry for more than 10 minutes. Mostly because he either falls asleep, or I go get him. I figure 10 minutes is long enough, right?

My Funny Boys

So Charlie has been grabbing his feet for a long time, but he finally got them to his mouth on his own. Steve was changing his clothes and he yelled "Karen! Come quick, and bring the camera!" It was pretty funny. Also I have no idea why the pictures are sideways. I didn't even take them sideways....

Charlie and Steve were playing on the floor and Charlie was squealing and giggling. It was really funny. And then he started to cry. I think he was just done playing.

I Am AWESOME!!!

So there have been a few things this week that just boosted my self esteem so much. I really don't have low self esteem. I used to, but since having Charles I've realized just how important I am, and what an amazing body I have. Well, my already high self esteem, plus this extra boost, has me reeling about how truly awesome I really am.

Here is the story. I work out, and I walk, and I have just started to jog. I've been doing this regularly sine June, but I really stepped it up in July. My weight has remained pretty consistent. Then all of a sudden I step on the scale and BAM I'm 10 pounds lighter than when I started! I was so excited. I only have 2 pounds to go until my pre-pregnancy weight and 62 to go until my goal weight. So since I'm so much lighter I think to myself, maybe I'm smaller too. I guess my shorts have been getting a little loose on me. So I pull out my box full of pant that I don't fit into. The last time I tried them on I couldn't get them up past my hips. This time... They all fit! Yes all of them! How exciting. I just added 6 pairs of jeans and 2 pairs of capris to my wardrobe! Really it was the best day ever. That is until today...

I made a goal at the beginning of this week that by Friday I will be able to jog to the half mile mark on my trail. Now I have never ever jogged before. I didn't know if this goal was realistic, but it was a goal and that is important. So this morning I'm jogging, I pass the bench that I got to on my first try, I pass the clump of trees from my second, I pass the place from my third. I'm feeling good and I'm not really paying attention when all of a sudden I'm passing the half mile mark! I was so excited! I made it 10 or 15 feet past it before I had to slow down because I felt like crying. I'm still in shock! I really didn't think I could do it. I've set a new goal. By Friday I will make it to the flat bridge. I know pretty much no one knows what I'm talking about, but that is where I will be on Friday. Next week, I will jog a full mile without slowing down. I've never done that before ever in my whole life. I'm really so awesome!

I love setting goals and achieving them way before I thought I would. Tomorrow I will pass that half mile mark, and go way further, and I know I can do it because I've already done it! Yay me!!!

Oh How Time Flies.

Sorry it has been so long since I last posted. I would say that I've been busy, but that really isn't true. Charlie is on the most amazing schedule ever, and I have a nice 3 hour chunk of free time right in the middle of every day. I do love nap time. Anyway, the real reason that I haven't updated is that I haven't wanted to. I have some bogs that I read and it seems like I haven't been alone in not posting for a while. Well, Charlie has grown so much in this last little while. You can look at all these pictures and videos and literally see the difference, and they only span over about a month and a half. I feel like this little man just grew into his 3-6 month clothes, and now he's starting to grow out of them. I guess I have heard other people say that this is when their kids seemed to grow the fastest too.

Onto a little bit about me, and then maybe something about Steve if I can think of anything exciting enough. I still go to my workout group every day. I still go walking after workout group every day. Now instead of walking the entire time, I have started to jog a mile or two. Losing weight has been slow starting, but I am really starting to notice a big difference, and the weight is finally starting to come off. I can tell that my tummy is smaller, and my legs are so much stronger. And I can tell that I feel a lot better all the time, both emotionally and physically. I feel strong and capable and I really am loving where I'm at right now.

Steve... Well he works, and then finds other odd jobs for money, and then sometimes he works some more. Then in his free time he works on his resume or getting things ready for BAP (one of the accounting clubs on campus) for when school starts. It sound like he never spends any time with Charlie and I but that isn't true. Steve is a good daddy, and a fantastic husband. He takes care of us and he makes us smile. I think he likes making me smile just as much as he likes making Charlie smile.

Well, this is pretty much our lives for the time being. At the end of this month school will start and everything will change for Steve, but for me everything will stay the same.

Now, onto these pictures and videos that everyone has been dying to see.

Charlie is so big and so strong. He can only himself up on his elbows like this really well, and he has just started holding himself up on his hands.

We found this Bumbo chair at a yard sale for $5. He is good in it for about half an hour without the tray that came with it. With the tray, he hates life and wants out. It has been an okay chair but he really prefers to stand.

So there has been some debate among the Hurds as to where Charlie inherited his ears. Well, I have those ears too, and here is the source. This is my Grandpa Gappmayer. You can't see it very well, because he is wearing a hat, but this is where Charlie got his ears. I really think Charlie looks so much like his great grandpa.

My niece Lilly was so excited about Charlie. She always wanted to touch him and play with him. She was so excited that she got to help feed him.

My nephew Gabe. He is a crazy 6 year old. We have a lot of fun. He goes between hating me, and liking me because I tease him all the time. I would say that I'm mean, but I really think someone should be teasing him.

We put Charlie in this swing, and at first he was like, "Daddy! What are you doing!"

Then he was like, "Yay! More! More!" He love swinging.

So here is my sweet little boy sleeping with his bum up in the air.

And because it was hard to tell in the other picture, here is a nice bum shot.

DISCLAIMER: Charlie is 100 million times more funny and intense normally. It just seems like whenever we pull out the camera he calms way down.

At first Charlie has a good "I want you in my mouth" thing going on, but then its like "Ah! A lion. Oh, a green thing. Ah! A lion." I thought it was way funny.

Charlie stated making kissing sounds, but it only lasted for about 3 days. He won't do it anymore, so its good we got one kiss on camera.

This is how he acts after every bath. He is so hysterical and excited, and of course HILARIOUS!

This one is my favorite, and the most up to date, since it just happened today. He got this Exersaucer from a neighbor whose son had outgrown it and Charlie loves it. He will spend hours in it, then be hungry, and go right back in for a few more hours after he eats. He just started using his hand to grab things instead of just looking at them. Also he just started scooting it around in circles whether the wheels are locked or not. He loves that he can stand up or sit down, and he doesn't have to rely on us to do it. He is such an independent little boy.

Oh, I just remembered. Its too bad I don't have a picture. We bought Charlie a sippy cup, and he LOVES it. I handed it to him him the store to see if he would like it, and he cried when I took it away to pay for it. He has never cried when I've taken things away from him before. It has little handles on the sides for him to hold onto, and he can lift it up to his mouth and get a drink whenever he wants to. He loves doing things by himself. It took him a total of like 10 minutes to figure out how to hold it, put it in his mouth, and get water to come out of it. He is so smart.

Also, this story just reminded me that whenever we feed him solids he wants to hold the spoon so bad. It makes feeding him really hard, but it is super cute and funny. Also, Charlie always wants to eat what we're eating. He has this funny put-that-in-my-mouth-right-now face that cracks me up every time.

And thinking of all these cute things makes me realize that I don't take nearly enough pictures, even though I have like 10 thousand already and he is only almost 5 months old.
