Charlie has just been cracking me up all day. I am always surprised by how smart he is. He has recently started asking for things without being prompted. Today he just showed so much more of his funny personality.
First, he was playing with my purse. He pulled things out and packed them back in. Then he ran over to me and gave me a hug and a kiss and said, "Love. Bye bye." He grabbed my purse, threw it over his shoulder and ran for the door. He did it four times in a row before he finally realized that I wasn't going to leave with him. Haha, he is so funny.
After he was finished playing with my purse he was playing with his toys on the floor and I sneezed. He jumped up and ran over to me and said, "Bess you!" I didn't even know he was picking up on the fast that I say bless you when people sneeze. This was the very first time he has ever said anything after I sneezed.
The third thing that I thought was funny was at lunch time. It was about 5 minutes before I was going to start getting his lunch ready and he climbed up into a chair at our table and started yelling for a hot dog. He sat there and yelled "Ha gog, ha gog, ha gog, ha gog!" He didn't stop until he saw me getting a hot dog out of the fridge.
The last funny thing he did before he went down for his nap was probably the cutest thing I've ever seen him do. He was holding one of his stuffed dogs, rocking it, and singing quietly. Then he gave it a hug and patted its back and kissed it right on the nose. He put it in a shoe box and tucked a blanket around it and said,"Nigh nigh goggy." Then he climbed into a diaper box (we have a lot of boxes...) and pulled a blanket up over himself and pretended to sleep. It only lasted for like two seconds before he climbed out and pulled his dog out, but it was still so cute and funny to watch. That is the fist time I've seen him imitate any of our routines.
Charlie is getting to the point where he surprises me so much every day. He is learning so fast. He imitates words that we say all the time. He can even count to two. He counts his eyes and his ears all the time. He knows where his eyes, ears, nose, mouth, teeth, head, hair, belly, feet, and fingers are. And he is a great little helper. He is always willing to put things in the garbage and help (un)fold laundry. I really love him so much, and I love seeing him learn and develop all the time.

18 Months and Pictures!
Charlie is 18 months old now! He is really growing up so fast. Here are his 18 month stats (I don't really remember them and we had to switch doctors because we moved. This doctor didn't print out a scrapbook ready paper full of his measurements for us.)
Height: About 33 inches. 97th percentile. He is so so tall!
Weight: 27 lbs even. 85th percentile.
Head size: 65th percentile! Can you believe it! He has always had such a tiny head, and it is FINALLY catching up to the rest of him!
Charlie talks all the time. He strings words together and says things like "Bye Daddy," "Another one," and "I want up."
He loves drawing pictures on his chalk board, he builds with blocks all the time, and he loves pushing his cars across the floor.
Last month we went camping in Cedar with some family. We didn't actually camp because it was too rainy, but it was still fun to visit with everyone. Most of the pictures are from one of the stops we had to take. Charlie is not good at long drives. We often have to stop and let him walk around for a while. This time we stopped in the middle of no where and let him play. The last two picture are showing his new found love of Redvines on our "camping" trip. Keep in mind that these pictures are a month old, which means that they are already way out of date. He has more teeth now, and he is a little bigger and more mature looking, and more coordinated.

Charlie is a HUGE helper
As I mentioned before we just moved to Salt Lake. While we still had boxes stacked up all over the place (which we have finally got all unpacked and put away) Charlie decided to help us out and unpack the... Flour. Yes, so very helpful. Nice job unpacking the flour. It was actually really funny. I looked over and saw him having the time of his life playing in the flour.
We stood him up to take a picture of how messy he got and he looked so happy with himself. What a funny little boy. We learned our lesson and have since moved our flour up high.

Need more time...
I have things to blog about, and a lot of super cute pictures to post. I just need the time to do it. We just moved to Salt Lake, and we're still getting settled. Please be patient, I'll post something good soon.

15 Months
Charlie turned 15 months... 9 days ago. Oh well. Better late than never, right? I decided that for this post I will make lists about the things Charlie does that I think are so smart/cute/funny.
Words Charlie Says
Charlie is a pro at saying words. He picks up a new word every few days, and he says words so well. Sure he still sounds like a baby when he says them, but most people can understand the word that he's saying which is really good for a one year old.
- Go (This was his first word. He loves to go!)
-Wow (Maybe wow was his first word? He uses his whole face to say it. Its so stinking cute.)
-Mom (He says Momom, but is starting to say mommy.)
-Dad (Dadad, but starting to say daddy.)
-Uh Oh (This was one of his first too. He is so good at saying uh oh when things fall on the floor, or when Backyardigans ends.)
-All Gone (Sounds like Agome. He says it when his food is gone, or when he realizes that we aren't going to give him what he wants.)
-Done (He says it when he's done in the bathtub or swimming pool.)
-No (He just stared saying it and its so funny. He will wag his finger at us and say "ne ne ne ne ne.")
-What's that (Sounds like wasat. He points to things and says "wasat" Its really funny.)
-Baby (He said this one for the first time yesterday. He is so so good at repeating words that we say.)
Doesn't that seem like a lot of words? I guess I don't hang out with any other one year olds all day every day, so I'm not really sure what's normal.
Things Charlie Does
-Put garbage in the garbage can!
-Put everything else in the garbage can...
-Take garbage out of the garbage can :(
-Open doors (Just the ones that he can push open. He can't turn the doorknob and pull yet.)
-Get his own drink and snack off the table, and then (sometimes) put it back on the table when he's done.
-He can walk in any of his shoes now. (We're seriously considering putting him on a leash soon.)
-Climb on the couch. (He only does it when one of us is sitting on the couch, I'm not sure he can do it when no one is on the couch pushing the cushions down a little.)
-Turn on the radio on my alarm clock. (There is a whole row of buttons, and he can push the correct button first try every time. He's so smart.)
-Play peek-a-boo. He will cover his face with his hands or hide behind a chair and pop out and scare us.
Things He Knows
-When we say "jump" he always stars jumping.
-He knows where his tummy, ears, and toes are. He sometimes know where his nose is.
-He knows where other peoples tummy, ears, and toes are.
-He knows that when we put shoes on we're going to go, so he often brings me my shoes and says "Go go go!"
-When he brings me my shoes he always brings a matching pair, and our shoes are in a messy pile, not organised at all.
-He knows that keys open doors. He will grab some keys and hold them up to the doorknob trying to open the door.
-He knows how to drink out of a normal cup, but prefers to dump water all over himself.
-He knows that he need to take his diaper off in order to get in the bathtub. Lucky for us he does not know how to take his diaper off yet.
-He knows when he need a diaper change. He will come up to us and pat his diaper and then walk into his room, where we always change him.
That's all I can think of for now. He does way more funny and smart things, but these are the ones I see most often.

A Bunch of Stuff I Didn't Blog About But Should Have
I haven't blogged in a while, but a lot has happened. So to catch up I decided to post pictures and a little bit of detail about what's been going on. We'll start with Easter. A friend of mine threw an Easter egg hunt for all of our kids. Charlie didn't quite know what to make of it, but he loved playing with the Easter eggs after the hunt. And he LOVED eating the candy. I think the jelly beans were his favorite.
Then we went to Baby Animal Days, which I think I liked more than Charlie. He did love the pigs though. He wouldn't touch them, but he cried when I took him away from them. We circled back to see them again before we left, and he was so excited.
My favorite were the baby bears. I wanted to put Charlie in to play with them, but I think that would have been frowned upon.
Charlie also loved riding a horse. Really he just sat on a horse for a while. He didn't actually "ride" anywhere. But he liked it a lot. If he were older we totally would have signed him up for mutton busting.
This is Charlie needing a second haircut, and just being cute and funny.
Here's Charlie after I buzzed his hair. It was super short, and because its such a light color he looked kind of bald, but at least his hair was super easy to manage.
This is my dad and step mom and Charlie and me at Steve's commencement. His family was there too but I didn't get a picture of them. He's getting his Master's of Accounting. I'm so proud of him for working so hard so that we can have a good future. He still has summer classes, so he graduated without being done, but it was still nice to be able to celebrate his achievement.
Yay Steve! He's the one looking my way. My camera is not super awesome so this is the best I could do.
Well, that's pretty much it. I already posted the video of Charlie walking. It was really weird, one day he refused to even try to walk and the next all he wants to do is walk. Oh well, at least he figured it out. He tries to walk everywhere now. He is so happy with himself about it too. He still can't stand up without pulling himself up with something, but I'm sure that will come soon enough.

My Baby Walks!
The other day we took this awesome video of Charlie walking. Not only is it the best walking video ever, but you can also hear him talking in it! He says momom, which is me, and he says go, which he chants to himself every time he walks. He also says go when I bring out his stroller, or when we put shoes on. He is pretty much the most adorable little boy on the planet, and here is the proof:

Charlie's New Favorite Game
Charlie loves walking, but he is so scared to do it without holding on to something. The other day he finally figured out how to use his push toy, and now he loves walking around with it. It just means that my job is to follow him around to turn him in a new direction with he runs into things. I guess this is good incentive to keep his toys cleaned up though.

Charlie's First Haircut
Charlie got his first haircut yesterday. It was very hard for me. I have a hard time explaining it, but it sort of felt like his haircut made him officially not a baby anymore. It meant that from now on he was a little boy, and he was just going to keep growing up. I almost cried, but I am proud to say that the tears never really got flowing. I'm okay with it now. He does look very handsome since we cut his hair.
Here are his before pictures. His hair is so fluffy. The pictures don't really do it justice. It really would stick up everywhere before we got it cut.
During. He was so good. He didn't cry and he only tried to look around when he heard a hair dryer going. He mostly watched his movie and looked at Steve and I.
After. He's so handsome! The second picture was taken when he was looking at the balloon they were about to give him. You can see in his eyes how much he wants it.
Charlie's Birthday Party
Last Saturday was Charlie's birthday party. We had lunch, opened presents, and had cake. It was really fun, and Charlie was as funny as ever. While we opened presents he kept shaking his head and whispering, "Wow, wow, wow." Everyone thought he was super cute. Yep, I get to live with that sort of thing every day, and so far its still funny every time he does it.
When it was time for cake we took off Charlie's clothes so that we could prevent one part of the mess we knew he was about to make. He didn't eat any of the cake. Well, I fed him some, but he didn't eat any on his own, and I wouldn't have gotten any on his face if I hadn't put it there. Also you can see my cute niece, Karlee, helping Charlie out by eating the frosting off his cake.
The Toy Box
For Christmas my father-in-law built Charlie a toy box. I requested that he leave it unfinished so that I could paint it. But then I had to think about how to paint it. I thought about it for a few months, but then I figured it out. I bought some paint and enlisted the help of my bestie Elise and off we went. We got the whole thing painted in one day, and I must say that it looks awesome!

One year old stats
We went to the doctor today for Charlie's one year check up. Here are his stats:
Weight: 23 lbs 10 oz - 70th percentile
Height: 31 1/4 in - 90th percentile
Head measurement: 17 3/4 in - 25th percentile
So what do we really know about Charlie? He's a big boy. He's super tall, and he has a small head. Just like always. We also learned that we can transition from formula to cow's milk. Am I the only person scared of this? It seems like a big step. It also seems really great and a whole lot less expensive. But its scary for some reason. I think its the idea that we have to start feeding him like a person and not a baby really soon. I am so not emotionally ready to have a little boy. I want him to stay a baby forever. I want him to need me for everything forever.
And here is a funny story about my little boy and how funny he is. All day he's been make a fake pouty face with a few real pouty faces thrown in. So tonight he wouldn't go to bed for forever, and I was frustrated. Steve has to sleep because he needs to be to work at 4 am, so I can't let Charlie cry in his crib. So I finally decided to just ignore him and forget about trying to put him to bed. He was playing next to me on the couch being annoying and clingy when he made another fake pouty face. I made one back to him and he smiled. And then suddenly he was leaning in with his tongue hanging out and he planted the wettest kiss right on my lips. It was so funny! I laughed so hard and I instantly forgot that I was irritated with him. What a boy. Its like he knew exactly what to do to soften my heart.
I really am glad he's growing up. I'm glad that I get to watch him see everything for the first time, and I'm glad that I have the opportunity to get to know his sweet personality. A baby could never be as funny as my little boy.

A Letter to Charlie
Dear Charles,
Happy first birthday! I am so lucky to have you in my life. I'll be honest with you. Before you came I was sure that I would fail at being a mother. Kids frustrated me. I never knew what to say or do around them. I always felt so awkward, like children could see right through me. I had faith, however, that children of my own would be different. You have proved that to be true time and again. Being your mother has come so naturally to me. I feel like I always know what to do or say to make you light up. I feel much more confident in myself because of you. I know that as you continue to learn and grow I will be able to teach you. I've never felt that way before. Thank you for being such a positive light in my life.
You have the funniest sense of humor. Even for only being one year old you know what makes me laugh, and you really do try to make me laugh all the time. I love that you tickle my feet and tell me jokes. I love your fake laugh that always turns into a real giggle as soon as I start laughing. It seems like your goal so far in life has been to brighten my days.
You also have such a sweet character. You are kind and gentle, and you are always so happy. Many times throughout your life people have comented on how well behaved you are, and how happy you seem to be, even on occasions where you have been in the worst mood. I'm glad that even your bad moods can brighten somebody's day.
Your appreciation for music melts my heart. I love that you will stop everything and listen when there is music playing. You even try to sing along some times. You have such a sweet voice when you try to sing. Please keep singing. Continue loving music. It is such an important part of life.
Charles you have truely changed my life for the better. I have such a strong desire to be healthy and strong, so that I can keep up with you when you start running around. I also strive to be better spiritually every day. I know that my role in teaching you the gospel is so important. I pray and study so much harder because you are with me. I want to be able to answer your questions. I want to teach you about the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that you will fully understand his sacrifice for us.
Charles I love you so much. I feel so blessed to have you in my life. I know that you were sent to us exactly when we needed you the most. I hope you have a wonderful birthday! I so look forward to all of your birthdays to come.
Love,
Mommy

Happy Anniversary!
Yesterday was my three year anniversary! I am so lucky to be married to my wonderful husband, Steve. He really has been such a huge impact on the person that I've become, and the person that I strive to be. I know that he will always be there to support me and our family. I feel so blessed for every day that I get to spend with him. It was nice to be able to celebrate.
This year, because we are very poor, we decided to have a simple date. We left Charlie at my sister's and did a session in the Salt Lake Temple. For those of you who don't know, I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was sealed for time and all eternity to my husband in the Salt Lake Temple 3 years ago. We decided that this was the perfect way to celebrate. We've never done a session in the Salt Lake Temple, so I was very excited. It was beautiful! I think I want to go their all the time. I was so overcome with the spirit. After our session we were able to do some sealings. While we were there an old friend's mother came in with some family names. It was nice to see her again, though we didn't have time to talk at all.
After the temple Steve and I went to dinner. Steve got a nice crisp hundred dollar bill in his Christmas card from HJ (the company that he will be working for in August) that has been sitting in his sock drawer. We decided that we should do something fun with it, and this seemed like a great opportunity to use it. We went to a restaurant called The Five Alls. I went there for prom in high school, and I remembered that it was so so so so good. Steve and I both agree that if you're going to spend $100 on dinner that is definitely the place to go. They serve a 5 course meal, so you really get what you pay for. We left so stuffed, with plenty of leftovers. I think we might go there for every anniversary.
We also exchanged gifts for our anniversary. I got Steve a hot air popcorn maker, which we have tested and deemed awesome. Steve was much more thoughtful and bought me 3 pearl bracelets. They are wire with beads and pearls that are Charlie proof. I've had some problems with my other pearl bracelet that include it breaking because I have a grabby baby. My new bracelets are so pretty. I really love them. They are white, black, and pink pearls, so I have one to match everything I wear.
I love my husband, and I loved out anniversary celebration. I look forward to our future together.

Story Time
Charlie has been sick for the past few days. It started on Friday with a runny nose. Then Saturday he started coughing. This is the first time he's had a cough so its a little scary. On Sunday he got a fever. His first fever. It wasn't too bad. He didn't even get up to 100 degrees, but he felt hot, and I could tell he was miserable. We let him play in the bath tub pretty much all day. By Monday morning his fever was gone. Today his nose is still runny and he still has a cough, but he seems to be feeling better. All he wants to eat is Cheerios and cold formula. And even then I have to work to get him to eat. He like to sleep all day and stay up at night. Its no good at all, because Steve and I like to sleep at night.
On to my story. This morning Charlie was picking at his Cheerios when he discovered that when his fingers are wet the Cheerios stick to them. Then he tried to put the Cheerio stuck to his finger into his mouth, but he missed. And that is when he discovered that when his face is covered in slobber/snot Cheerios will stick to it. It was so funny to see the look on his face. He was so proud of himself. He stuck four Cheerios to his face and then started sliding them into his mouth. That part was actually really gross. It all happened so fast that I didn't get a picture. It made me laugh so hard. That boy is so weird and funny even when he's sick.

Almost 1 Year!
Charlie is 11 months old today. That means that there is only 1 more month until he is 1 year old. I don't know if I can do it! I just want to keep him right where he is forever.
On the other hand, maybe I should wait until he gets a few more teeth and figures out how to walk, and then I can freeze time. Yeah, that sounds better.
Charlie is getting pretty good at walking. He needs a little more balance and a lot more confidence. He can walk just holding one of my hands, so really he's pretty good at it. We've been able to trick him into standing up without holding on to anything, but as soon as he realizes it he falls down. Funny kid.
He has his 2 bottom teeth, and is working on the top. He cut one of them the other day, and we can see the second through his gums, so its only a matter of time. I think I can almost see 2 more on the bottom, but I'm not really sure about those ones.
Charlie can say a lot more sounds now, so he babbles and pretends to talk all the time. I can understand some things that he communicates, which is neat. He points at things he wants, and if it's food he also makes a "mmmmmmm" sound. I like to pretend he's trying to say more. He can almost say "Uh oh" but he has no idea when to say it.
He has figured out how to unroll and tear toilet paper. That't not really fun, but it is funny.
He loves being upside down. I think if his whole life could be spent upside down he would be very happy about it.
He loves music.
He has a great routine where he eats 3 meals of solid food and only has 3 bottles every day. That has been nice. I'm really excited to be done with bottles.
He hates juice. I think it's too sweet for him or something. I guess I can't blame him. I don't like a lot of juices either.
That's pretty much Charlie. He is very happy all the time. Even when he's grumpy people tell us that he is so happy. Everyone who meets him loves him. He's really sweet and he smiles for everyone. I love this boy.

Oh This Boy
This is Charlie's favorite thing to do when he's playing by himself. I also like to use this as an excuse for why my apartment is messy all the time.
If he hadn't noticed me he would have emptied the entire box. My boy is so funny.

Where Did My Baby Go?
Do you remember when my baby was little and round and squishy? All the things that a baby should be. He could barely hold his head up, so he definitely couldn't get into things. He never cried when we took chunks of paper out of his mouth. He didn't even eat paper. He wore cute little diapers instead of giant size 4 diapers. And best of all he fit into his cute little froggy pajamas.
Where did my baby go? He turned into a little boy over night. It really makes me sad. It also makes me happy because he is so much more fun now than he ever was when he was a baby.
Here is my sweet little boy all ready to play with daddy in the snow! He is so tall, and he can almost stand up without holding on to anything. Also I have no idea how to rotate pictures on blogger.
He loved the snow. He moved he head up and down while he watched it fall. Steve and I laughed at him.
When they came back inside Charlie didn't want to take off his shoes or gloves. Apparently shoes and gloves are the coolest discovery of the day.
I love my little boy, but I really want my baby back. How do parents handle their children growing up? He isn't even a year old yet and I feel heartbroken over it. I better learn to toughen up because he is just going to continue growing up.

I have a 10 month old!
Charlie turned 10 months old yesterday! I think its so crazy that in only 2 months my baby will be a year old. This time last year I was so excited to have my baby, and now I get to spend all my time with this handsome little man!

So obviously they aren't exactly the same Charlie is a lot chunkier than Steve was, but they have the same face shape and the same hair and the same eyes and the same nose. I really think the only thing Charlie got from me were my ears.
Well, that's everything I can think of. We are a cute happy family!
Here are some things about Charlie:
-He got 2 teeth for Christmas. Santa must have got his letter!
-He loves pancakes.
-He hates wearing a diaper. I'm lucky he doesn't know how to take it off yet. Whenever I take it off he runs away.
-He loves his toothbrush. When he sees us brushing our teeth he grabs his toothbrush and starts brushing his too. He giggles the whole time like we're planning some fun game. I love him.
-He eats anything we give him, except for peaches. I don't know why he picked something so tasty to be his least favorite food. We still make him eat them though.
-He love walking. He walks up and down our couch so fast now, and he laughs the whole way. If he always had something to hold on to I don't think he would ever crawl again.
-He is a chronic thumb sucker. His thumb is now cracked and looks so painful. He's stopped sleeping though the night, and I think its because it hurts to suck his thumb and he doesn't know how else to soothe himself. We put Aquaphor on it all the time. It seems to be helping so far.
-He loves taking baths in the bathtub.
-He loves the tickle game. I chase him and he runs away screaming and when I catch him I tickle him and he squeals with giggles. He gets so into it that he will just scream and then flop around on the floor laughing. I don't even have to do anything. It makes me laugh so hard.
-He looks so much like Steve did when he was a baby.

Dear Boys of a Married Momma
Since Elise does "Dear Boys" every Wednesday, and since I love reading them, I thought I might try it out. It might be difficult since I have very few boys in my life, but I think I can make it work.
Dear Poopy Pants,
What have we been feeding you? You smell terrible. But I still love you. Also, remember that time today where you gave me a hug? That was nice. You should do it again some time soon.
Love,
Your Mommy
Dear Spastic,
If you jump any harder the light will fall off. So stop.
Sincerely,
Not really annoyed enough to tell you mom on you.
Dear Hero,
Thanks for saving me today. And yesterday. And the day before. And the day before. What would I do without you?
Love,
You wife
